About

Kat Kennedy is a Physiology Ph.D. Student and Science Writer based in Tucson, Arizona. Though curious about the mechanistic underpinnings of all life on earth, Kennedy’s research explores the use of novel therapeutics able to improve sleep health and behaviour.

Supporting an interdisciplinary approach to health, Kennedy advocates for environmental and social justice, as well as open access to scientific data. She uses her science communication skills to help combat misinformation and pseudoscience, reporting on innovative findings along the way.

Drawing from a diverse background in marine biology and ecology as well as industry experience as a microbiologist, Kennedy is anything but conventional, but thinks academia is more interesting that way.

Kennedy is a Contributing Editor for the eco-magazine, Peaceful Dumpling. You can access her portfolio of 150+ articles here. She also writes for a variety of publications on Medium.

Hi Kat, just found your site through the Peaceful Dumpling. Then saw your article about Liberated, the doco which I haven’t seen. In my opinion, that “culture” shown in the film seems to share a lot of qualities with carnism. One wonders where we will go next as humans. This true liberation process is definitely going on though… Thanks for writing, your work contributes positively to the true liberation of humanity. Peace 😉
